COVID-19 Update
COVID-19 Update
Due to the UK currently being in lockdown, we have made some temporary changes to the way we run our social enterprise to ensure we can continue to support our local community.
We are currently not holding any community workshops or events to ensure the safety of all our volunteers and attendees.
Usually at this time of year we would have dusted off our StrEAT food stall and be out in the community serving delicious food, this is a vital income generator for us and is therefore a big blow, however we don't stay down for long.
Whilst we may not be able to run our Tiger Green Project workshops as normal we have stepped up to support the NHS making various items for local hospitals. We have mobilised our Tiger Community to sew at home and set up the Urban Room to coordinate items being made across Nottinghamshire by wonderful volunteers of Nottingham - For The Love Of Scrubs - following strict social distancing rules. Its a great way for our community to work isolated but not alone - we are one big team.
We have received funding to ensure we can cover staffing and overheads as our work load has increased immensely with the FTLOS coordination. Thanks to National Emergencies Trust and The National Lottery for providing this funding and to lottery players and the Government who have made this possible.
There are many ways you can support us during this time.
If you live in Nottingham and can sew you can volunteer your time to making items to be gifted to our local NHS, frontline key workers and vulnerable groups - additionally we are accepting donations of fabric, buttons, elastic and financial donations towards costs. We have already been overwhelmed by the response from the community and any support no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated. For more information, get in touch via our Contact Us page.
We are currently running a crowdfunding campaign - please support us.
Running projects that support enterprise
Running projects that support enterprise
Whether it's a showcase opportunity for local organisations or a volunteer opportunity for individuals to build work skills; supporting enterprise and helping people to help themselves is at the heart of all we do.
StrEAT Food Stall
StrEAT Food Stall
After working with the Green Kitchen on their food stall for a number of years Tiger finally set up their own community food stall in March 2018.
Now regulars at Papplewick Pumping Station Steaming events, we also pop up at community events across Nottingham and other events including Steampunk Filey.
Our traditional menu features Homemade Steak & Ale Stew, Duck Fat Roast Potatoes, BBQ Chicken and Hot Dogs and all profits support our community activities
Tiger Green Textiles
Tiger Green Textiles
Community is central to this project.
Working in and with the community we take unwanted materials and recycle them into a wide range of craft, gift and homeware items.
Learn and share skills, build confidence and self esteem and make new friends all whilst doing our bit for the planet.
We now have premises in the Basement at 38 Carrington Street, Nottingham, NG1 7FG
Our diary will include Community Workshops, Drop in Sessions, Learn to Sew Classes and working with community partners.
Tiger Work Skills
Tiger Work Skills
This pilot initiative offered voluntary work placements to individuals looking to build their work skills and readiness for work.
Working alongside Disability Direct Nottingham, and with funding from the Big Lottery, we offered places to young people including disabled people and the unemployed to support us with sales, marketing and events.
We are currently seeking funding to run another programme working with disaffected young people, focusing on their transferable skills and works skills to help them move forward in their career paths
Donate to Tiger Green Textiles here. All donations go towards cost of materials for our community projects.
